Overview
At a time when development budgets are under close review, we need to fully justify the cost of people development.
For new managers … there is usually a clear path for development, linked to some form of competency based training.
For existing managers … they have received training/development, ‘some’ of which is being used.
The opportunity is to unleash the skills either not being used or not focussed on achieving business objectives.
Personality tools usually focus on identifying traits that are fixed. This tool identifies strengths and areas that may be having an adverse impact and can be changed.
Our Approach
Using an Individual Effectiveness online questionnaire in association with JCA (Occupational Psychologists) and feedback report, we can consider both:
• Intrapersonal intelligence – identifying and acting on what is going on inside of us for effective self management
• Interpersonal intelligence – identifying and acting on what is going on in others or between people for effective relationship management
The framework is:

EI is defined as not so much the ability to do something, which is useless if it is not put to use, rather the practice of integrating skills into both feeling and thinking.
This approach links into changing beliefs, fears, habits and behaviours to use the necessary skills and attitude/approach to be more successful and effective.
How It Works
Using EI, Trafalgar helps individuals to focus personal growth and performance, leading to positive, healthier, more resilient and effective individuals.
The questionnaire considers 16 dimensions (scales) under the headings of:
• Life position (self regard, regard for others)
• Awareness (self, others)
• Self management (resilience, personal power, good directedness, flexibility, personal connectedness, invitation to trust)
• Relationship management (trust, conflict handling, reflective learning)
From the report and feedback discussion individuals will focus on specific self development areas. These can then be reviewed individually or when appropriate, on a group support basis.
Benefits To You
The benefits of using the Emotional Intelligence (Individual Effectiveness) tool with Trafalgar include:
• an online confidential report supported by feedback and interpretation
• focus on what can be changed rather than personality that can’t
• self awareness around thinking and feeling around self, others and relationship management.
• link to a personal development plan focusing on the objective of changing attitudes/approaches and skills application
